Blood thinning

Lowering Blood Pressure

Reducing sodium while increasing potassium (under a doctor's supervision!) reduces fluid retention and relieves pressure on blood vessels reducing risk of stroke by 50% - university study as reported in Woman's World magazine 1/6/14

Birth Control

Estrogen can increase risk of stroke - if you are taking birth control pills talk to your doctor about taking progesterone-only pills.

Exercise

Walking at a comfortable pace, at least 17 minutes a day, can lower stroke risk by 30%.

Muscle Cramps

Muscle cramps could mean a deficiency in potassium, magnesium, or calcium. The potassium in one banana is not enough to help, you may want to supplement. But caution: high potassium levels can cause cardiac arrhythmia. as reported in Prevention Magazine October 2012

Israeli research: dim lights a few hours before you go to sleep and make sure your bedroom is super dark - this can cut breast cancer risk by %31. (Darkness triggers the brain to produce melatonin which helps you sleep and also causes breast cancer cells to self-destruct. as reported in Woman's World Magazine 11/5/12
