I found a really good Youtube video where a guy really puts the plant ID Apps to the test.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB8IqWl6CJE
He get's right into it so rather than spill his findings here go on over there so he gets more views on his channel.
I'm probably going to run any questions through his two highest rating apps. To get two opinions and then just start from their.
I IDed a bush in my neighborhood with an app - it was Black Hawthorne. It was flowering at the time so I ran the photo in an app - it said Black Hawthorne and then I went back to check it and sure enough it has thorns.
We have a little blackberry type berry that grows on vines that trail across the ground and will trip you if not careful. People have told me it is called "Dewberry" and I think that is how you can identify it - it grows along the ground and is hard to see and will trip you if not careful.
Is it Blackberry or dewberry? LSU Ag Center

“When you go to pick a dewberry and touch the fruit, usually you’re going to have red stains on your hands, while that won’t easily happen with cultivated blackberries like Brazos, Cheyenne or Apache,” Fontenot added.

I'm trying to find a name for all the organic gardening, homesteading, fruit & nut tree growing, greenhouse, root cellaring interests I have so I can find my people. Well, it's all chaos right now. I guess "Permaculture" is close but it doesn't really cover everything. Hmmm. I think I will try to organize some resources and then figure it out later!
*Back in the day they used to be called "Back-to-the-Landers" but no one uses that term anymore.

Preserving
I'm still trying to find out the best way to preserve rice. I did not know that canning and preserving is a highly controversial right now! I did learn, for a fact, that you can't, so far, preserve brown rice because the oils in it will just make it go rancid quickly. Damn! If I find the best way to preserve rice I will post it here.
